Hollywood Squares revival with Peter Marshall[edit]
To the person who wrote about the new version of Hollywood Squares supposedly on the drawing boards: Where have you heard this information? I haven't seen any "official" sources mention this.

The result of the proposal was Moved to Peter Marshall (U.S. entertainer) per consensus. Hasn't been five days yet, but I can't see any other consensus forming. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 03:14, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Peter Marshall (game show host) → ??? — Marshall is so much more than a game show host. He's a singer, entertainer, actor. I'm not sure of what it should be moved to, though; Peter Marshall (entertainer) perhaps? — Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 19:57, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

- Support idea of move, if only because this isn't the only Peter Marshall who's been a game-show host—Peter Marshall (UK broadcaster) also qualifies. Because of that fellow's existence, I think my suggestion would be Peter Marshall (U.S. entertainer) for this article. Deor (talk) 23:15, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Support move because it does not disambiguate from the UK broadcaster, who was also a game show host. This Peter Marshall appears to be notable exclusively for being a game show host however - perhaps Peter Marshall (U.S. game show host) is more appropriate? --Rogerb67 (talk) 00:12, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Requested move 1b[edit]

The result of the proposal was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 23:13, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Peter Marshall (entertainer) → Peter Marshall (game show host) – (unbundled as requested) Fails WP:CRITERIA, not used in sources "host Peter Marshall" = 3,560 GBooks vs "entertainer Peter Marshall" = 2 GBooks and therefore unlikely that readers will be searching for "Peter Marshall entertainer". Relisted. BDD (talk) 16:10, 18 September 2013 (UTC) In ictu oculi (talk) 03:29, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Support; "(entertainer)" is always a bad way to title an article, and all articles titled that way should be moved to another title. I suppose there will never be a consensus for moving certain present articles, but they are still wrong. 168.12.253.66 (talk) 13:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Notable as an actor as well as a game show host. Isn't a game show host an "entertainer" anyway? Dohn joe (talk) 01:21, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- We aren't called to generalize or theorize. WP:AT says WP:AT CRITERIA 2. Naturalness – The title is one that readers are likely to look or search for and that editors would naturally use to link to the article from other articles. Such titles usually convey what the subject is actually called in English.. That requires what the guideline says. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:50, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose – Inadequate disambiguation, as Peter Marshall (UK broadcaster) is in Category:British game show hosts. The UK's Peter Marshall hosted Sale of the Century. It appears to me that this article was moved from Peter Marshall (U.S. entertainer) without discussion, so it probably should be moved back there by default, until a new consensus is found. I could support Peter Marshall (American game show host), one of many members of Category:American game show hosts, as that is surely his primary career. He is best known for Hollywood Squares. – Wbm1058 (talk) 14:38, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Perhaps it's not ideal but it's workable as is, and this proposed move would make it worse not better IMO. Andrewa (talk) 04:08, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Too late[edit]
User:Wbm1058, apologies I didn't see your comment until after it was closed. Peter Marshall (American game show host) vs Peter Marshall (UK game show host) would indeed make more sense. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:15, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
