Mahō Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi (魔法使いになれなかった女の子の話, "The Story of the Girl Who Couldn't Become a Wizard") is a Japanese web novel written by Yuzuki Akasaka. It was serialized on the Everystar website from March 2018 to September 2019, and it was submitted to Project Anima, a 2018 collaboration between DeNA, Sotsu, and Bunka Housou that accepted story submissions from the general public. Mahō Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi was the runner-up in the "Another World/Fantasy" category. An anime television series adaptation produced by J.C.Staff is set to premiere in October 2024.

Anime[edit]

An anime adaptation of the novel was announced on October 25, 2018, as the winner of the "Another World/Fantasy" category of Project Anima.[1] The series is produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Masato Matsune, with Takashi Watanabe serving as chief director, Hiroko Kanasugi writing series scripts,[3] Mai Matsūra designing the characters based on Lily Hoshino's original designs, and Yoko Shimomura composing the music. It is set to premiere in October 2024 on MBS, TBS and BS-TBS, after being delayed from 2021.[2]
