Description1974 Mercury Marquis Brougham Sedan (46771501072).jpg
Edsel Ford introduced the Mercury in 1939 as a model to fill the gap between the basic Ford, and the luxury Lincoln.
The Marquis was produced from 1967-86
The 1967-68 first generation was a top of the line full sized car, available as only a two door hardtop, positioned above the Monterey and Montclair, and along side the Park Lane 4 door Hardtop, Convertible and Marauder Fastback.
The 1969-78 second generation was completely redesigned, featuring covered headlights. The Park Lane was discontinued, the Marquis available in a full range of body styles; 2 door Hardtop, Convertible, 4 door Hardtop, Sedan and Wagon
For 1973, the Marquis received a minor restyling with a boxier look, an upmarket Marquis Brougham available, the Grand Marquis with leather interior
